Social mini-series speaking with men’s mental health organisations, raising awareness for male suicide rates in areas across the UK

Overview

We worked with Two Pints Deep to develop The Longest Mile, a mini series created alongside North V South, the longest relay race in the UK. Following runners travelling from Scotland to the south of England, the series explored the communities and organisations working to support men’s mental health along the route.

Challenge

The opportunity was to give the wider North V South event a story that extended beyond the race itself. As the runners travelled through locations including Carlisle and Warrington, we wanted to connect their physical journey with the wider reality of men’s mental health across the UK, giving audiences a reason to engage with the people, places and organisations behind the cause.

Solution

We developed The Longest Mile as a social first documentary series, following the runners through the country and capturing conversations with charity leaders and organisations including Mind, Man v Fat, More Than Men and Shoulder to Shoulder. We used an animated visual layer to track the journey and bring key mental health statistics from each location into the story, creating a clear connection between the route and the wider issue.

The series helped amplify North V South beyond the event itself, contributing to record fundraising for Two Pints Deep and enabling participating charities to support more people than ever before.
